- GROW NATIVE PROGRAM: Teaches kids about the importance of conserving native plants through classroom presentations about weeds and native plants as well as first hand experiences in actually growing native plants in the classroom or in an existing greenhouses. Soil, pots, wildflower seeds, and instructions on their care supplied, followed with a field trip to a local restoration site to plant the native vegetation. The classroom presentation starts in early March and field trips to restoration sites start in late May or early June.
- NATIVE PLANT RESCUE: Participants will rescue native plants from development sites and then transplant them to the Nature Discovery Playground at Ft. Missoula or on their own property.
- LEAVE NO WEEDS PROGRAM: Leave No Weeds is open to 4th-6th graders and is designed for classroom presentations and field trips on the environmental effects of noxious weeds. Outdoor field trips involve native plant and noxious weed identification and some hands on weedpulls in the spring or fall. Funding for bus transportation available.
- WEEDS TO WILDFLOWERS TOURS: These interpretive tours are conducted in the evenings in the spring and summer on the saddle of Mt. Jumbo, which is part of our 4,000 acres of open space. Tours are hosted by Marilyn Marler, Marijka Wessner, or Morgan Valliant and consist of short hikes on Mt. Jumbo that cover weed/native plant identification, vegetation management, and other land management issues.
- TUESDAY NIGHT STEWARDSHIP SERIES at Ft. Missoula Nature Adventure Playground: Tuesday night programs include native plant identification, landscaping techniques, prairie restoration, and more. Activities featured by local native plant and weed specialists are native plant rescues, seed collecting, grass/wildflower identification, and weeding/planting.
